Born twenty-seven years ago in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Usher Raymond is best
known as the R&B crooner of the hit "You Make Me Wanna...". He was
an "R&B teen dream" by the prestigious Rolling Stone magazine. R&B lovers
get acquainted with his elegant ardent style when he is only 15 years old
thanks to the release of his self-titled first album in 1994. Three years
only Usher is propelled to global stardom with the release of his second
album My Way. The record is a true hit, earning him the 1998 Billboard Best
Performer of the Year award. The first single "You Make Me Wanna..." turns
into one of his greatest hits so far. His other albums include 8701 (2001)
and Confessions (2004). Confessions featurs the singles "Burn" and "Yeah"
(the latter a collaboration with Ludacris and Lil' Jon) and earns Usher four
American Music Awards and eight Grammy nominations.
Ushers sense of artistry goes beyond the R&B scene and he debuts in acting,
with a recurring role on the teen sitcom Moesha, and roles in the films
She's All That (1999, with Freddie Prinze, Jr.) and Texas Rangers (2001,
with Ashton Kutcher).
Rhythm and Blues singer Usher will reportedly play the younger version of Morgan
Freeman's character in a new film the Oscar winner plans to direct. The
suspense film tells the story of an assassin and takes place in Cuba in the
1960s and the present day. October 13th, 2005
