Catherine Zeta-Jones is one of the most magnetic actresses that Hollywood
knows. Combining exotic beauty with classic makings as an actress, Catherine
is well-known to the British public long before her major breakthrough with
The Mask of Zorro in 1998 when the whole world has the pleasure to get
acquainted with her magnetism. Before taking the movie world by storm,
Catherine is a star in a good deal of TV series and makes a good name for
her as one of the U.K.'s most popular TV actresses. Her most known roles are
the lead in Philippe de Brocas film Les 1001 Nuits in 1989, the Yorkshire
Television comedy drama series The Darling Buds of May, Catherine the Great,
The Cinder Path, etc.
After the huge success of 1998's The Mask of Zorro, Catherine is showered
with invitations for better and better roles in American films. She stars in
movies like Entrapment, The Haunting, High Fidelity, Traffic that gradually
establish her as a Hollywood star. Her most prominent role so far is in the
Broadway adaptation Chicago. Her astonishing performance in the musical as a
singer and dancer blows the audiences away and wins her the 2002 Oscar for
Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Other notable roles of hers are in the
Cohen Brothers' movie Intolerable Cruelty, where she partners George
Clooney, and The Terminal, co-starring Tom Hanks. In 2004 she re-teams with
Clooney for Oceans Twelve and then with another co-star from the past
Antonio Banderas for the sequel to their film The Legend of Zorro. Her
recent movie appearances are for the British comedy Coming Out and Scott
Hicks comedy drama Mostly Martha.
While making a glamorous career as an actress, Catherine manages to devote
most of her time to the cares of motherhood. Married to Michael Douglas
since November, 2000, she gives birth to two wonderful children - Dylan
Michael and Carys Zeta Douglas.
Catherine Zeta-Jones originates from Mumbles, Wales, where she was born on
September 25, 1969. Her name is a combination of the names of her two
grandmothers; one grandmother -named Catherine, while the other is "Zeta,"
named after a ship that Catherine's grandfather sailed on.

Catherine wore a black dress, diamond necklace, watch and ring for lunch at
The Ivy in LA yesterday with her husband Michael.
Her father-in-law Kirk Douglas, who has appeared in 87 motion pictures,
including the 1960 Stanley Kubrick film Spartacus, celebrated his 90th
