Courteney
Cox was born June 15, 1964, in Birmingham, Alabama, USA . Courteney
is the fourth child of Richard (born in 1930) and
Courteney (*1934) Cox. She has a brother Richard and two sisters:
(Virginia respectively Dottie Pickett). Her parents split when she
is 10. Courtney stays with her mother who marries for the second time
to the businessman Hunter Copeland in 1976 . Her father, who is a
building contractor, moves to Florida where he lives till 1975 and
gets married in turn.
Courteney graduates from Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham
(1982) and begins to study architecture/interior decoration at the
Mount
Vernon College in Washington. During one of her summer vacations she
goes to NY and becomes a model for Ford modeling agency.
She appears on the cover of well-known magazines such as Teen Beat
and Young Miss, poses for advertising posters and billboards. Courtney
takes part in
advertising videos for Maybelline, Noxzema and the New York Telephone
Company . Her film debut comes in 1984 with the soap opera'As the
World Turns'', and later - there is a casting for the directed by
Brian de Palma video to the song 'Dancing in the Dark' by Bruce Springsteen.
She is approved of and numerous windows of opportunities arise soon.
She begins hosting the music show : 'This Week's Music'. The same
year 1984, Courtney works for F.B.I. (Frontier Booking International)
- a concert booking agency in New York run by Ian Copeland (brother
of Stewart of the Police) and a cousin of Cox's. The big screen debut
for Courteney is the movie 'Family Ties'. But the first remarkable
appearance of Miss Cox is in the crazy comedy 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective'
featuring Jim Carrey as a protagonist.
Courteney plays on the big stage as well: 'King of Hearts' at the
Tiffany Theatre in L.A., where she starred with Michael Spound (1989).
Indisputably, her stardom moment comes with the participation in the
adolescent series 'Friends' , where she personifies Moninica Geller'
- all of America, Europe and Asia fall in love with the series' heroes.
Initially, the producers tried to convince her to play the role of
Rachel, but she reasoned
with them to give her the other role - that matches more her personality.
Courteney hosts the 'MTV Movie Awards' in 1995 , but the real movie
success comes with the main role in the"Scream" (1996),
that brings millions of dollars
in revenue. Meanwhile, she stars in the low-budget 'Commandments',
but in 1997 she is proposed to play in the follow-up to "Scream"
- "Scream2" , that wins
$40 million for one week only. Since 1998, she's been sharing her
life with David Arquette, who she meets while making "Scream"
. They've been married since June 12, 1999. |
