Latino rap star Fat Joe, was born as Joe Cartagena in the South
Bronx area of New York.
With his older brother as a life guide, Joe learns the ways of street
lifestyle and develops liking for the rap music as the most expressive way
to convey his feelings to the public. His rap inspiration sources are
Theodore, Funky 4 + 1, and the Furious Five. Joes first recording company to
release his full-length debut album, Represent (1993), becomes Relativity .
The album is preceded by the hit single "Flow Joe that turns fast into a
chart-topper on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart. Joes second album in
1995, named Jealous Ones Army, shows his growing maturity in rapping. The
album features a key cameo appearance by KRS-One and production
contributions by the likes of DJ Premier, LES, and Domingo. Fat Joes
flourishing career also includes winning collaborations with LL Cool J, Foxy
Brown and Keith Murray (the hit "I Shot Ya"), with Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon on
"Firewater." In 1998 Joe enters into a recording agreement with Atlantic
Records and Mystic Entertainment to release a succession of noteworthy
albums: Don Cartagena, featuring cameo appearances by Puff Daddy, Nas, Big
Pun, etc., Jealous Ones Still Envy (2001), including collaborations with
Ludacris, R. Kelly, Remy, the 2002s Loyalty and 2005s Nothing. Along with
his winning musical undertaking, Fat Joe embarks on other commercial
ventures such as opening a clothing store named Fat Joe's Halftime, a barber
shop, and a fashion line, FJ560.

Rapper Fat Joe took advantage of his performance at the post-MTV Video Music
Awards party on August 31st, 2006 to announce his break-up with the longtime
record partner Atlantic and the new deal with Virgin. Now the rapper is
about to release his latest album, ME, MYSELF + I independently via his own
Terror Squad label. September 2nd. 2006
Fat Joe reported his decision to remake Denzel Washingtons role in Man On
Fire for his new video No Drama. In Joes opinion Denzels character perfectly
matches the gritty style of the single. August 17th, 2006
