Sean Paul on Yahoo News
Sean Pauls multi-ethnic origin probably stands in the basis of his
notable talent to always be colorful in the spotlight. Sean sees the
daylight 33 years ago to parents that have Portuguese, Chinese, and Jamaican
blood. He grows up comfortably in St. Andrew, Jamaica, showing early
indications of his talent as an athlete, that is gradually dominated by his
love for dancehall music. Despite the great chance he has to get educated
enough to start a prosperous career, Sean decides to dedicate all of his
time and efforts to creating rhythm tracks. He becomes a DJ finding
inspiration in the works of Super Cat and Don Yute in crafting his unique
style. Shortly after that he launches a series of successful singles, with
producer Jeremy Harding in 1996, that hit Jamaican charts: "Baby Girl," "Nah
Get No Bly (One More Try), "Deport Them," "Excite Me," "Infiltrate," and
"Hackle Mi". In 1999, Sean Paul collaborates with fellow dancehall hit-maker
Mr. Vegas on a production for rapper DMX; titled "Here Comes the Boom," that
is included in director Hype Williams' film Belly. He also scores a Top Ten
hit on the Billboard rap charts with "Hot Gal Today," his most memorable
tune so far. In 2000 Sean plays the Summer Jam 2000 in New York City and
releases his first album on VP Record. The Stage One collects many of Paul's
previous hit singles and compilation cuts, plus a few new tracks.
